The debut of the Wraptor360 Wrapper Label Applicator at Pack Expo 2024 drew an overwhelmingly positive response. The booth featured the new machine labeling loads as they were wrapped by a Lantech Q300XT semi-automatic stretch wrapper. I sat down with Andy Stone, Vice President of Business Development to talk about the new addition to the Kolinahr catalog.
What is the Wraptor360?
The Wraptor360 is a robust, all electric, automatic label applicator designed to attach to most semi-automatic stretch wrappers all for under $35,000.
What type of customer is the Wraptor360 designed for?
It is designed for a progressive, up-and-coming customer advancing in the automation space. They may not have a fully automated end of line packaging set up, but they are looking to start to automate. It’s also for those customers that have existing semi-automatic wrappers and would like to automate their labeling.
What can a customer expect from the Wraptor 360 after installation?
They can expect an increase in efficiency and bottom-line profit. They will instantly go from tedious, inefficient hand-labeling to automated label placement. Kolinahr’s rugged and reliable equipment is designed to be low maintenance, so they can expect the Wraptor360 to run faithfully with little to no downtime. But if something does break, Kolinahr equipment is backed by a 2-year limited warranty.
What size labels will it handle?
In general, all of our automatic labeling machines can handle labels up to 8.5 in. by 11 in. While we can use other printer manufacturers, our customers primarily choose Zebra print engines or industrial tabletop printers and their maximum is an 8.5 in. by 11 in. label.
What are the installation requirements?
Customers can either purchase a semi-automatic stretch wrapper and have it sent to our facility to have the labeling added, or our engineers can install the Wraptor360 in the field to existing semi-automatic stretch wrappers. Our team currently has experience modifying the Lantech Q-300XT, but we are confident that we can install the Wraptor360 on most systems.
As far as the actual installation, the existing controls are replaced by Kolinahr controls. Our engineers use PLC based, non-proprietary software. The program includes easy to understand troubleshooting to quickly get back up and running if there is a fault. Additionally, the system does not require any more power that the existing machine and the all-electric design means that no additional air drop is needed either.
What are the benefits to automating labeling?
The biggest reason manufacturers choose to automate their labeling is because of too many mislabeled or unlabeled loads. Automation gives producers assurance that the right label goes with the right load.
Automation also helps to address the labor shortage felt industry wide. Labeling machines work 24/7 without lunch breaks or benefits packages. It’s a boring task and by adding a machine, those very valuable employees can be assigned more difficult and interesting task.
