The Modern Packaging Line
The packaging landscape is ever changing. Each retailer requires different palletizing and labeling standards, and end users want more options. This has led to an increase in SKUs and load configuration variability. CPGs turned to automation to help streamline all of the variations and processes, but many find that they need truly versatile and ‘smart’ equipment for their lines to be successful.
A packaging line is only as strong as its weakest link and too often that title falls on the labeler. The SA3100 from Kolinahr Systems is designed to keep your line running and reduce downtime by providing reliable operation and low maintenance durability. This machine is designed for and tested in high volume 24/7 facilities. Many retailers now require extra labeling on unit loads. The SA3100 label applicator is capable of applying labels on up to three sides of a unit load eliminating the use of unreliable turn tables or multiple machines. Its industry tested spring loaded platen ensures clean label placement. With so many available options, you can select exactly what you need to alleviate pain points in your production.
Low stock and ribbon lights
Many of our customers include a low media and low label sensor and associated warning lights on their equipment. As a standard, the printer mounting plate is designed to accommodate large capacity label rolls and requires fewer stock changes than the traditional table top printer. However, the low ribbon and low stock warning lights allow operators to anticipate and be ready to replace these resources when they do eventually run out. This can help reduce the total amount of time the labeler is down for a stock change.
Easy Access Maintenance
As the use of automation increases, so does the use of safety fencing (and the challenges that come with that). Our new slide-out maintenance position option allows operators to easily move the machine away from the guarding to replace stock, clear a jam, or make other adjustments. Operators are able to independently lock-out and access the machine without entering the fencing, an action that often shuts down the whole packaging line.
Scanning Verification
Many customers also elect to add barcode scanner verification. By adding a barcode scanner to the end of the arm, the SA3100 can verify label placement and readability and correct things before the load leaves the zone. This means no more loads with missing or unreadable labels that need to be tracked down and side-lined until they can be fixed. Automatic Height Adjustment
While all of our SA3100s include manual height adjustment as standard, the autoheight option can reduce cycle time or the need for multiple machines. In this option, the printing platform rides up and down a mast on a set of linear rails. Sensors on the platform find the top (or bottom) of the load to provide a consistent label placement. This option is particularly useful for customers that are doing labeling after stacking or for loads of varying heights that have a labeling requirement that is measured from the top of the load.
An Adaptable Solution
Each of our machines is custom tailored for the facility it operates in. Based on your label size, placement requirements, and safety concerns, our team designs and builds a machine for you. Even the program is custom. Each label applicator uses PLC programming, a non-proprietary software that won’t require regular updates and maintenance from our technicians.
The SA3100 will keep your line running now, and in the future. Upgrade your labeling today with a machine that will adapt to future labeling standards, require minimal maintenance, and even check it’s own work.
